What is up with the new TV advertisements about insurance? Even Progressive is talking more about the different items they cover than about saving money. We have a cute dog worrying about his bone as the music plays “Worry, Worry, Worry”. Mayhem happens in another advertisement when a man becomes an inanimate object like a TV dish or a flag that causes a disaster. The object then identifies himself as Mayhem and the insurance announcer lets you know that this company covers mayhem (as if others did not). The one thing that is missing is the usual claim of saving you money. This focus onto coverage instead of price is what insurers call a “hard market”.
